Autumn arrived abruptly this week as has post-Covid ‘normality’. Here’s a quick summary of our month at Alexir.
As part of a long-term strategy to drive and deliver affordable innovation to our customers, the design and technical team at the Alexir Partnership have developed a resealable pack that doubles up as a measuring tool for dried foods such as rice, grains, seeds, legumes, pasta, cereals, protein powders, chickpea flour, functional foods etc.
The desire for portion control in a packaging solution has been a common theme with brand owners and manufacturers alike. With health matters like obesity and environmental factors such as food waste, packaging that could deliver on measuring portions would clearly be beneficial to the end-consumer and the planet.
This new measuring pack is made from folding box board and is 100% recyclable. Every panel on the outside and inside can be printed so there is plenty of opportunity for branding.
We are proud to announce that Alexir Packaging, the carton-converting division of the Alexir Partnership, has maintained their AA grade BRC accreditation for the third consecutive year.
There is no doubt that this last year has been especially difficult due to Covid and the impact of safety restrictions. It has also been an incredibly busy year with the installation of a new printing press and the sporadic surges of business from panic-buying. Given all these factors at play, maintaining the grade AA is an incredible achievement.
At our sister site in Sussex, where Alexir blend, fill, pack and collate dried foods, the production facilities also have BRC grade AA food accreditation. Congratulations to all involved!
The Alexir Partnership has recently added to its head count and have taken on two young apprentices at their carton manufacturing site in Edenbridge, Kent.
The two successful candidates, Amy Page and Sam Sharp, are from the local area and both were looking for an opportunity to break into the creative packaging industry. Their backgrounds followed a similar trajectory in food retail with each of them also having a strong interest in design.
We are proud to announce that we have been shortlisted in three of the categories for the UK Packaging Awards 2021. It is especially exciting as each division is represented in the shortlisted packs and demonstrates the breadth of our packaging solutions. The nominated packs are:
Sicín Sásta Halopack Tray in the Cartonboard Pack of the Year category
Pukka Bamboo Box in the Reusable Pack of the Year category
Flower and White Meringue Bites Pouches in the Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year category
