Alexir Co-Packers (ACP), the contract packing division of the Alexir Partnership, has set in motion some very exciting expansion and investment projects for 2016.
ACP is a full-service co-packing and co-manufacturing dried food specialist working for some of the most respected FMCG companies in the UK – including Premier Foods, Nestlé and Arla Foods. Based in Sussex their facilities are equipped with automated, semi-automated and manual lines and provide a full and flexible range of packing solutions. These include high-speed flow wrapping, doy packing, blending, pot and sachet filling, labelling, sleeving and assortment packing of ambient, chilled and frozen food products.
With six segregated manufacturing rooms ACP extended their production facilities with an additional 25,000 ft² at the end of last year. With full BRC and Organic accreditations they are now able to offer full contract manufacturing solutions in a total production site of 55,000ft². The £481,000 revamp of the new facilities will include a conversion of a segregated Nut production facility solely focused on processing products that contain nuts, including cereals and snacks. Their existing facilities provide nut-free, nut-trace and allergen-control packing services.
Mr Jeremy Keable, Director of the Alexir Partnership said: “We are particularly pleased that we have been able to extend our premises as it enables us to focus on specialist packing facilities and offer a broader service. It’s been an exciting 12 months for us and we launch our first contracts in February.”
Further to the expansion of the site there has also been some major investment in new machinery. This investment includes a high-speed horizontal form fill and seal flow wrapping line and a Doy pack filling line. This capital expenditure further demonstrates the commitment of the Alexir Partnership to push forward and lead the way in innovation whilst meeting the needs of a rapidly changing marketplace.
The Alexir Partnership, which employs over 200 people across 2 sites in Kent and Sussex, hope that the expansion of both their manufacturing sites will help the group boost its annual turnover from £28m in this financial year to a target of £40m in three years.
For the first time the Alexir Partnership will be in the Contract Pack Zone on stand G38 at the Packaging Innovations Exhibition 2016 (24-25th February NEC Birmingham). This presence at the exhibition will be in conjunction with the launch of their new website which will reflect the core Alexir Partnership proposition and present equal profiles of all the different businesses within the group.
