various formats
A HALOPACK® tray is a cardboard food tray that is topped with a layer of plastic and sealed with a film lid to make the tray airtight. The thin layer of plastic can be easily detached from the cardboard and placed in separate waste streams by the consumer. A HALOPACK® tray has less than 15% plastic which helps to significantly reduce the amount of plastic packaging in the supply chain. Additionally, it helps to keep the food inside fresher for longer reducing food waste.
The HALOPACK® by Alexir was the first airtight boardtray in the United Kingdom 5 years ago. Since then the HALOPACK® collection has expanded to include not only the Food Tray but also the Skinpack, Clamshell, Compartmental and now the Octagonal HALOPACK®.

On the 9th of July, Sainsbury’s relaunched their Taste the Difference Meat Range in the Skinpack. This range includes their Sirloin, Rump, Fillet Steak, Mini Roasting Joint, Picanha Steak and Ribeye Steak.
The change to the Skinpack reduces the amount of plastic in each tray by 70%. The Alexir Partnership is anticipated to supply Sainsbury’s with 200,000 Skinpacks per week resulting in a reduction of plastic trays in the supply chain.
